Yakumanka by Gastón Acurio – Geneva
The jewel of Peruvian cuisine at the Mandarin Oriental
▸ A Peruvian gem on the banks of the Rhône
Located within the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Geneva, Yakumanka made its mark on Geneva’s culinary scene from 2019 to February 2024.
Created by iconic chef Gastón Acurio, this modern cebicheria transported Geneva to the heart of Peru, reinterpreting the great classics of Peruvian cuisine with elegance and authenticity.
▸ A bright and exotic setting
Designed by the Brandfood studio and Peruvian designer Morandi Arcela, the decor combined marine-inspired materials, an open bar counter, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Rhône.
A warm and welcoming atmosphere, evoking a stop at a contemporary cevicheria in Lima.
▸ Nikkei cuisine & refined Peruvian flavors
Under the leadership of Executive Chef Daniel Galvez Estrada, Yakumanka served cuisine that blended Peruvian tradition with modernity:
-
Ceviches & tiraditos
-
Anticuchos & Lomo Saltado
-
Tart, spicy, and slightly sweet flavors that bring out the freshness of the ingredients.
The cocktail menu featured the legendary Pisco Sour, accompanied by a selection of exceptional wines from the Mandarin Oriental (Burgundy, Bordeaux, and South American wines).
▸ Premium service and experience
-
Open in the evenings from Tuesday through Saturday
-
A popular Sunday brunch inspired by Latin American cuisine
-
Professional service, backed by the five-star hospitality expertise of the Mandarin Oriental
▸ Closure & Outlook
After four successful years, Yakumanka closed its doors at the end of February 2024, as the Mandarin Oriental did not renew its license with Gastón Acurio.
A new culinary concept or a pop-up restaurant is expected to open soon within the hotel.
